Scooter & Powerchair Battery Information

Battery Type

All batteries supplied with the scooters / powerchairs we sell are of the sealed type and DOT / IATA approved for air travel. Certificates can be obtained from the manufacturer on request. The Smilie Scooter uses Lithium batteries, the smaller 11.6 ah batteries are airline compliant

Charging your Batteries

Please always refer to your user Manual for the battery maintenance of your model. Failure to follow the correct procedure will mean that your batteries may fail and you will not be covered under the 1st year warranty.
This Information is for guidance only, if you use your scooter outside of your home every day, then it should be charged every day. If you use it less frequently then always charge your batteries before an outing, or after active use. Use the 3:1 ratio as a guide; one hour of use requires 3 hours of charging. Always read your Owner's Manual.

Not using your scooter Powerchair for a while?

If you stop using your scooter/powerchair for an extended period of time, disconnect your batteries and then check them every two to three weeks and recharge if necessary. Always store your batteries fully charged. Avoid hot and cold extremes of temperature.
